The two-day 36 holes stroke play event is scheduled to tee off from May 26 and 27 at Moshi Gymkhana Club course in Moshi, Kilimanjaro region.
The prestigious annual national tournament is jointly organised by Moshi Gymkhana Club and Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), while Arusha’s Kibo Palace Hotel was named as main sponsor.
Captain of Moshi Gymkhana Club, Chris Martin has told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ from Moshi yesterday that, preparations for the same are on top gear for them to host the first national event in this year’s calendar.
Martin said that, they are delighted that other two sponsors have come forward to join Kibo Palace in supporting the event. He named the companies that have joined the fray as event co-sponsors are Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Zanzibar and Bonite Bottlers Limited of Moshi.
Martin added that it was nice to see Moshi Open continue to attract more sponsors. He said that, the door was still open for other sponsors, who wish to join and make it one of the successful events.
The captain said that, fabulous prizes are up for grab by winners in different categories. Martin who is also a TGU Vice-Chairman added that, the tournament is open for men, ladies who have official handicap. He said, there will also be prizes for the overall gross and runners up winners and net winner.
“We will also have prizes for Division A, B and C winners, two prizes for seniors, ladies, juniors and first and second day winners,” he said. Martin further said that, they have invited professional golfers, who will compete for the cash prize.
“We have already sent invitation to amateurs and professional golfers for them to consider their participation. We hope for good response as this event will open TGU calendar year of events,” he said.
