Joseph will be among a few top amateur golfers from East Africa in the 72-hole tournament that marks its 50th edition this year. Joseph will be competing against over 150 top professional golfers from all over the globe. The national team captain, Joseph, who has camped in Kenya since last month ready for the European Tour Challenge, has told the ‘Daily News’ from Nairobi yesterday that he is ready for the big battle and would appreciate if his mission is well supported.

Joseph, 22, said he aims to be a great golfer who can compete at the international levels, but, he said lack of sponsorship has been a biggest challenge towards reaching his goal. He said: “Thanks to God I’m doing well technically, physically fit and looking forward for the Thursday tee off, however, the only setback is lack of full sponsorship. I have been begging individuals but their support has not been sustainable.”

He said he was also looking for a sponsor who can foot his training in countries where golf is highly developed in order to sharpen his skills before join the paid rank. “I have to work hard and keep asking for support from individuals and sports well-wishers who have helped me reach here today. To move on I need full committed sponsors. “It’s not an easy journey, somehow makes things become difficult, I know am capable of achieving big things, but the current situation is not friendly, I need to be sure that the sponsor can take care of other things,” he said.

He added that full sponsorship will inspire him to play in high level events and achieve his goal. “But I hope that one day all these challenges will be resolved,” he revealed. At the last week final preparation Joseph, maintained his good form to finish 14th in the field of 39 players at the invited Professional Golf Kenya (PGK) Masters tournament
