Report from Kenya shows the Tanzanian golf prodigy secured a dramatic victory at the par 71 Muthaiga golf course, beating other top contenders from Uganda and hosts top amateurs in the 54 holes event that teed off on Saturday and ended on Sunday.

He continues to enjoy good performance in Kenyan soil after twice finishing second there. Joseph carded a closing 74 strokes on Sunday’s final round, after posting 73 and 68 strokes in the first and second rounds to pen two over par total 215 strokes. He beat his closest challenger G. Butich by two shots.

The Kenyan carded an aggregate score of 217 (75,72,70) to finish second and Kenyan national team ace Edwin Mudanyi who returned 217 (74,72,71) to finish third on countback.

At Kenya Open Champions annual tournament held at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya last year, his first round 80 strokes, reduced him to the runner up title with an aggregate 291 score (80, 72, 67,72) at the 72 holes event.

He was beaten by four shots by South Africa’s School of Excellence a Kenyan Daniel Nduva, a member of Nyali Club who started with 77 gross in the first, 74 second round, but his wonderful 5-under par 66 in the third and one-under par 70 in the closing round helped him to beat Joseph by four shots.

It is clear ambition to Joseph, the only local amateur who has just earned invitations to make his debut at the European Tour Kenya Open Championship to be held at the same course from March 22 to 25 this year.

Joseph has added the title to other major amateur silverwares he won in Rwanda Open two years ago and the last year in Tanzania Open.
