Singida United seek to clear JKT Tanzania hurdle today

Singida who ousted Young Africans in the quarter final match at the same venue, are keen to win the match and as one of the campaigns, the club has bought all tickets for their fans.

Mtibwa Sugar have marched into the final of the Federation Cup following a 2-0 win over Stand United in the first semi final clash staged at the Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga on Friday. Singida United under the tutelage of Dutch Coach, Hans van Pluijm will relay on their experience players such as Nizar Khalfan, Kigi Makassy, Shafiq Batambuze, Tafadzwa Kutinyu and Danny Usengimana to get the much sought victory.

Singida United hopes to win are high as they seek to represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. Do they clear JKT Tanzania hurdle, Singida United will play Mtibwa Sugar in the final to be held at Sheikh Amri Abeid Kaluta Stadium in Arusha on June 2nd this year. Apart from earning a place to represent the country into the next year’s CAF Confederation Cup, winner of this year’s title will also take home 50m/-.

The second winner will get 10m/- from event sponsors Azam TV. Other prizes will be awarded to best player of the tournament, who will take home 1m/-, best goalkeeper and top scorer, who will also get 1m/- each. Best player of the final match will get 500,000/-. Less fancied teams have remained in hunt for the ASFC title as much fancied sides— defending champions Simba, Young Africans and Azam FC were dumped out of the competition.

It was not easy for the four teams to reach into the semifinals of the lucrative football competition in the country as they had to put it all on the battlefield to make their dreams come true. JKT Tanzania were the first side to step into the semis following their epic 2-0 triumph over hosts Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Memorial Stadium in Mbeya.

The result saw the soldiers making their first ever appearance into ASFC last four. Stand United got the better of Njombe Mji in another tight ASFC match of the last eight to enter into the semis courtesy of a 1-0 success.

Similarly, Mtibwa Sugar managed to oust title favourites Azam through spot kicks, thanks to a 9-8 post match victory in a tight match played at Azam Complex in the city. The Ice cream makers were tied to a scoreless draw after 90 minutes of normal play until penalties had to be played to separate the two sides.
