RBA League title race tightens

Organised by Dar es Salaam Basketball Association (DB) the league that brings together 16 teams, enters a seventh week this weekend.

According to the association’s Technical and Competition Director, Gosbert Boniface, there are five league matches to be staged at the venue this weekend. After the match between Mgulani Warriors and Chui, there will be three matches on Saturday.

External Heroes will open the showdown with Kigamboni while Bahari Beach will test Twalipo and Dar Warriors meet Cavaliers. Boniface said on Sunday only one match will be staged, drawing Ukonga against Mgulani Warriors who will return for another match of the week.

Mgulani Warriors will be looking to add important points that will enable them to improve their current 11th position. They have so far played two matches and collected two points.

While they have to work hard for this week matches, their neighbors, Mgulani JKT are leading the table after accumulating 8 points from four matches, External Heroes, who have played three matches seat second with 6 points followed by Chui who have 5 points from three matches.

Other teams in the league and their points are Bahari Beach (5) from three matches, Twalipo Youth(5) four matches, Yellow Jackets (4), Srelio (4) all two plays, Oysterbay (4) from four matches, KR-1 (4) three matches, Dar Warriors (4) played four, Udsm Outsider (3), Segerea (3), Cavaliers (3) all played two, while Ukonga Warriors and Kigamboni City have 2 points each and played two matches. Boniface said: “Teams are battling it out for the three slots which promote them to join RBA League next Season.

” RBA League also involves 16 teams, before yesterday matches Oilers were leading table with 26 points from 13 matches, Savio who have played 11 games are second with 21 points. The third-placed Vijana City Bulls who also have posted 21 points have played 12 matches.
