In basketball, JKT defeated JKU of Zanzibar 39-28 in a game played at Mgulani courts in Dar e Salaam. In netball, Bandari Dar es Salaam defeated Bandari Zanzibar 24- 20 at Harbours court in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
JKT who played at home court led the game in all four quarters. But in that match Yahya Anania was the match top scorer after netting 15 points followed by Baraka Thabit of JKT who notched 14 points.
The netball match at Harbours court was fiercely contested as the teams tied 15-15 at the end of the first half. Bandari Dar played a better game in the third quarter and managed to finish it 18-16 ahead of their opponents. The last quarter saw Bandari Dar adding six goals while against four sunk by their opponents.
For many years players from Tanzania Mainland and Isles meet in various venues to play varieties of sports and games. Most often football, netball, volleyball and basketball have been key sports in the Easter Sports festivals.
