The ‘ice cream makers’ play host to Tanzania Prisons tomorrow evening at Azam’s Chamazi Complex in Dar es Salaam before winding up their season campaign with a mouthwatering clash against Yanga at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Azam tightened up the grip to end at the top three positions of the league thanks to the lately 2-0 win over Majimaji and will be eager to do the same against Tanzania Prisons, who were held to a scoreless draw during the Mbeya City derby against Mbeya City FC last week.

Speaking yesterday, Azam Communications Officer Jaffar Idd said, they understand how difficult hosting Tanzania Prisons will be but insisted that they want to finish the league as runners up hence getting three points tomorrow is vital for them.

“Currently, the team is in vibrant mood ahead of our next match bearing in mind that Tanzania Prisons is one of the competitive teams in the league who have great fitness and always pose a challenge when playing against them,” Idd said.

He added that, Azam squad will immediately enter into camp after their Prisons match to start preparations of their final battle of the term against Yanga.

Azam managed to win 2-0 against Tanzania Prisons in the first round encounter of the top flight league at Sokoine Memorial Stadium in Mbeya, meaning that the visitors will be forced to revenge the deficit they succumbed at their home turf.

Azam are second on the log with 52 points from 28 games, 16 points behind champions Simba who have maximized 68 points from the same number of outings. Yanga, who have four matches to go are third on 48 points and are favoured to finish second if they win all their matches.

Tanzania Prisons are fourth on the log with 45 points from 28 matches, meaning that if they win tomorrow, then they will be assured of top four finish over the fifth placed Singida United, who have bagged 41 points from 28 ties and they can reach 44 points if they register a positive outcome against Majimaji at Namfua Stadium in Singida.

Meanwhile, former champions, Yanga left yesterday morning to Shinyanga ready for their today’s encounter against Mwadui FC at the Kambarage Stadium. The team left with a contingent of 20 players. In another league match today, relegation haunted Njombe Mji FC will welcome Mtibwa Sugar at the Saba Saba ground in Makambako.
